چکیده

background: the purpose of present study was to evaluate the role of pre-ovulatory gnrh agonist therapy on ivf outcomes in gnrh antagonist cycles. methods: in this prospective study we recruited 100 infertile women undergoing ivf cycles with gnrh antagonists. the patients were assigned to two groups: group a (the study group, n=42) were assigned for receiving hcg+triptorelin for the final oocyte maturation and group b (the control group, n=58) were assigned for only hcg. the t-test, chi-square (2), and fisher's exact test were used for data analysis. a p<0.05 was taken as statistically significant. the results are presented by mean sd, and in percents (%). results: lh levels significantly (p<0.001) increased in the study group on the day of oocyte retrieval. all embryological parameters including the number of mature oocytes, fertilization and cleavage rates, number of high quality embryos and number of cases whose embryos were frozen were non-significantly higher in the study group. there were small but non-significant improvements in the clinical pregnancy, ongoing pregnancy, live birth and implantation rates in the study group. conclusion: administering a single dose of gnrh agonist before oocyte retrieval in antagonist cycles may be helpful in improving the pregnancy rate but the results need to be verified in a larger trials.

Effect of Pre-ovulatory Single Dose GnRH agonist Therapy on IVF Outcome in GnRH Antagonist Cycles; A Prospective Study

BACKGROUND The purpose of present study was to evaluate the role of pre-ovulatory GnRH agonist therapy on IVF outcomes in GnRH antagonist cycles. METHODS In this prospective study we recruited 100 infertile women undergoing IVF cycles with GnRH antagonists. The patients were assigned to two groups: Group A (the study group, n = 42) were assigned for receiving hCG + triptorelin for the final o...

a comparative study of gnrh antagonist and gnrh agonist in pco patients undergoing ivf/icsi cycles

background: polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos) patients are prone to premature lh surge and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (ohss). long gnrh analogue protocol and gnrh antagonist protocol are two methods utilized for induction ovulation in patients undergoing ivf/icsi. objective: the aim of this study was to compare the effects of gnrh agonists and antagonists in pcos patients. materials and...

GnRH agonist trigger versus hCG trigger in GnRH antagonist in IVF/ICSI cycles: A review article

Routinely, a bolus of 5.000-10.000 IU human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is used for the final follicular maturation and ovulation as a standard method. HCG has the same effect of luteinizing hormone (LH) with long half-life. It has the long lutheotrophic effect which increases the risk of ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome (OHSS). Recently, gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) trigg...

GnRH agonist versus GnRH antagonist in oocyte donation cycles: a prospective randomized study.

BACKGROUND The specific role of LH in folliculogenesis and oocyte maturation is unclear. GnRH antagonists, when administered in the late follicular phase, induce a sharp decrease in serum LH which may be detrimental for IVF outcome. This study was performed to evaluate whether the replacement of GnRH agonist (triptorelin) by a GnRH antagonist (ganirelix; NV Organon) in oocyte donation cycles ha...

GnRH-agonist versus GnRH-antagonist IVF cycles: is the reproductive outcome affected by the incidence of progesterone elevation on the day of HCG triggering? A randomized prospective study.

BACKGROUND In view of the current debate concerning possible differences in efficacy between the two GnRH analogues used in IVF stimulated cycles, the current study aimed to explore whether progesterone control in the late follicular phase differs when GnRH antagonist is used as compared with GnRH agonist, and if so, to what extent the progesterone rise affects the probability of pregnancy. M...

GnRH agonist and GnRH antagonist in intracytoplasmic injection cycles.

The long agonistic protocol for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) is effective and used most often, thus is considered the gold standard. Therefore any new regimen has to be compared in its results with those obtained with the long protocol. This report compares the efficacy of GnRH agonist and antagonist in a retrospective study of IVF/ICSI carried out in a tertiary teaching hospital f...
